Things that really p*ss you off?

Post by The_phat_controlleruk »

Today the guy was supposed to be round to finally sort the gearbox out on my car (been off the road for 3/4 months), he's been dicking me around of late but I didn't complain as I was getting it done for a good price (£350). I've had the gearbox for a couple of weeks now, in the car and he's always conveniently busy or just doesn't answer his phone. When we fitted the gearbox, she had no oil, no probs I thought. Bought the best semi-synth from halfords, went to fill her up only to find the filler was in a different position. Turns out he'd given me a different box, no problem I thought, as long as he's done what he'd supposed to have done and it works. Found the filler on the side, filled her up and started the car. Made a racket no better than my original f*cked gearbox, plus I can't select reverse and 5th (although this could be the linkage is out and needs re-aligning) whines like mad and goes when you press the clutch. Now, what's the chances he's just given me a second hand gearbox from a breakers and just cleaned the outside, passing it off to me as rebuilt?? Tosser.

One question though, does anyone know what the three torx screws on the front are for as these were loose, we weren't sure what they were for so just tightened them up.

Really hate it when that happens, feckin *%@$!!!!

Think he has given the wrong box and trying to avoid you knowing there will be problems with it. By the way it sounds and all the problems its giving you, I doubt its a rebuilt box.

That's what I was thinking, bang goes my plans for Wednesday. Stupid thing is, if I could align the gear linkage, I would make do with it until it blew up but I am so pissed off right now I'm not in the right frame of mind to do anything. I will probably leave it until this weekend and give it a go.

Cheers guys.

waste of money too, probably would've reduced your final cost if you had gone for a better one. If you find its only not working cos its the wrong one, you want me to find another from a mate who knows someone with plenty of dub engines/boxes etc ie a scrappy?
