Lowering Springs

I've now got some alloys for my polo, 17's with a 205/40/17 trye profile. The next mod is to lower it just don't know what springs to get. I would like to get some coilovers but cant really afford it as I have to save for uni next year! Looking to get some springs which lower the car around 50mm. What springs would you guys recommend?? So far ive looked at the Eibach sportlines and some Cobra ones what are your views on these?

My advice is that you buy H&R lowering springs. I haved used them previous my coilover set, and they were very nice. The lowering is about 40mm from the sport GTI suspension, and it is equal front and rear. A friend of mine has Eibach springs and the lowering isn't equal... it has -40 mm on front and -10 mm in rear.. the car looks , let's say "odd"...

yer I noticed the different drops on either end of the car with the eibach ones but didnt think it wud look that bad as its only a case of mm but i take your word for it. A friend also recommended H&R springs but would these fit a 1.2 model? Whats the ride like aswell on these? sorry about all the questions but im not that clued up on springs

No problem...
You will have to order springs for your specific engine... the spring rate is diffrent depending on the engine weight.
The ride offers less confort when lowering springs are used.

It doesn't look odd!

A love ma H&R springs, when a first got them it took a bit gettin used to but thats what u expect is ur gonna be puttin them on

Looks good too, sits nicely a think on the 16" wheels.

Thanks for all the replies. At the moment the H&R springs look to be the most likely ones il get. But are there any other springs out there you guys recommend? I will slap some pics up for ya when i've got the car lowered. Ive bin resisting to put the pics of wat it looks like with the alloys at the moment as it looks like a 4x4 and youl all just say it needs slamming lol!

I've found them on the internet at www.europerformance.co.uk which sell them for Â£111 including VAT which seems pretty reasonable. They state that they lower around 35mm im guessing this is only like an estimate so could be more? They have two differnt types for the 9n (including facelift model). I dont actually have a clue which one to get though??

Could also be less than 35mm if you have a light engine. Personally I would save for some sort of adjustable suspension so i could choose desired ride hieght. With regard to the springs if you have a light engine ie. 1.2 like me - It will be: Type: 9N Upto 830 kg Front Axle Weight OR if you have a 1.9TDI for example will be: Type: 9N From 831 kg Front Axle Weight. due to the bigger engine load.

Yer cheers, that makes sense. Are adjustable suspension kits similar or the same as coilovers? If not how much do they range from and what brands would you recommend? Does anyone have or had the cobra lowering springs?? They state that they lower the car 50mm and are one of the cheapest ive seen (Â£103 from www.v-werks.com) which also have had good reviews??

P.S. I had GMax springs on the 6N Polo and I have to say I do rate them, although some people don't!
