my Polo was whirring loudly when i got too high speeds due to disalligned wheels from a collsion i had with the curb and no brake pads left lol. Could be something to do with that?

Is it definitely an engine sound?

Could be one or more wheel bearings?

Somethings wrong in the box mate. if you drop the clutch to disengage the gears and it stops you know where the problem is. I think there is some kind of bearing in the gearbox that can go? If im not mistaken its probably that.

DISCLAIMER: Lemeph knows f**k all about gearboxes so dont take my word as concrete lol.

I would agree, it sounds like it could be a problem with something in the box. Another thing it could be is the thrust bearing, when i recently changed my clutch i put on a new one, and whilst it was bedding in it would whine, but would stop wen i diped the clutch.

As said by LeMeph i also am not an expert, but just thought i would let ya know my 2 cent.

there is oil in it, buttt my oil light keeps flashing and beeping like mad.

i got my new powerflow exhaust on yesterday, and whilst he had it up on ramps i had a listen to my engine, it sounded like a belt, i could see this belt spining round and it sounded like that, im useless with cars lol
