problems

Post by pip_polo »

i'm having some really bad problems with the car

it's currently running on 2 cylinders.

i changed the fuel filter as i presumed it was that stopping the car from getting a good supply of deisel but didn't seem to work.

it's as if when accelerating the handbrake is on and keeps slowing me down. also shakes like a bastard.

any of you guys had this in the past?

i know i haven't described it well but its a bit wierd lol

cheers

I imagine one of the fuel injectors is caplunkt, best take it to a VW specialist asap.

no, I wouldn't drive it - it's dangerous and could also ruin your engine if something else is wrong.

Hmm saw a 1.4tdi engine going on ebay a few months ago, was "diagnosed with a leaky injector", was awful to startup but ran OK....
Dude dont wanna look on the negative side, but those injectors are costly :( very costly

Hopefully just a bit of s**t that got into it, may just need a bloody good thrash to clear it... but not recommended running on 2, at all!
Seems like the middle cylinder though if it's shaking like mad.
Good luck hope it gets fixed easily!!

took the car to VW today and they dignosed it with:
the wiring loom to the injectors. (38 for parts)

and my timing belt was cracked so there also sorting that

altogether costing 535 pounds.

and then he added, if it isn't the wiring loom then it could be the injectors, but there expensive. but the loom and injectors come up as same fault code but he said he's had the looms go before..

Hmm well hopefully just the loom, as its almost like a kebab stick with wiring connections on it instead of chicken and pepper bits LOL.. Thats my way of describing the thing! It makes an electrical contact with the injecters. These connections I guess can wear out, or maybe the insulation on that "kebab stick" has broken, meaning it wouldn't insulate any more, and allowing for a short?
Not absolutely sure, but I would say there is probably quite a chance of that part going wrong instead of the injector itself.
Just my opinion, and i'm not a trained professional mechanic, but a lot of investigating into these engines means I know a fair bit about them :)
Good luck :)

LOL i dont have my manual next to me.. but yeh what would be called the loom, looks like a kind of kebab stick.. please dont mention this at the VW place unless you wanna entertain them lol
When i first saw that system, it seemed really strange, but that's the way this engine is layed out!
