squealing noise?????

squealing noise?????
i have an anoying squealing noise it sound like its coming from the cam belt, but i have a new belt and a new water pump, the belt is no loose??? any ideas????

if the alternator belt fails... is that all that goes? the battery charging capability? or does anything else use that belt? (ignoring the risk of it getting caught in the cambelt, sprokets etc)
Mine's looking somewhat frayed (hopefully *thats* the cause of the turbo-vacuum-cleaner noise on revving) but I dunno how bad it should look before it goes *ping*
