i asked this a while back but all i got was, dont cut springs, get coilies if you can afford them, they'll be worth it in my opinion, but herd you can just get lowering springs which is cheaper, but as you said, not sure how long standard shocks and dampers will endure the lowerage for.
so in my opinion id say get coilovers :D 8)

the only way i know of to lower the car without getting coilies or springs is to cut ur springs but its more dangerous and u can prob get them cheap now anyways so as ud have to take the springs of u might as well just replace them its safer. i heard u can go woth 50mm lowering springs with standard shocks but no lower is recommended. also that low might not be to good with the standard shocks as they wernt made for it so will ware out after a while. i got 30mm lowering springs on my car and they been on there about 3 years or more and so far so good.

In my opinion cutting springs isn't even an option, its absolutely ridiculous. So dangerous, you get s*it handling and ride, its a total waste of time.

I wouldn't go lower than 30mm on standard shocks.

I wouldn't bother mate. It may seem your saving money, but in the long run bits will wear out quicker and cost money to replace.
Just save up and get a lowering lit or colies.
