Clutch Help!

Post by Mike-Mk4 »

Hello peeps,

Got a little problem, hope someone can help!!

As some of you probably see, I've put a new engine into my Mk4 Polo, well today been finishing up little jobs. car up off all 4's.

Well, here is the problem, The car wouldn't go into gear with the engine running, didn't grind or anything, but was ok with engine off.

So, car is off ground, thought could be a linkage problem, tried it before played about, went into gear fine with engine running, but wheels was turning and won't stop when drop the clutch.

Played around with the cable, still nothing.

So, obviously the clutch isn't disengaging.

Has anyone else had this problem or could possibly shed some light onto it/things to try?

Any help would be much appreciated, really starting to bug us now, seems to be 1 thing after another just when it is nearly all there!!

thanks

Mike

Clutch cable is the only thing I can think of, unless its the pedal box... I can't think of anything else to suggest.

Pedal box or the clutch. Other than that it could possible be the clutch cable. Check it all out!!

Sorry peeps only just remembered to check back!

Thanks for the replies.

Mate spoke to his mate who is a VW mechanic and he said it sounds like clutch release bearing seized, which I did clean everything before I painted it, so probably took all the grease off the shaft, oops!

Got a new one to go on, will check everything else while at it though.

Fingers crossed this is all it is lol
