Post by eren-polo »

Hi every1...im 17,london boy, n passed my test a week ago n 2night just bought my first polo :D

It is a Black R reg 1 litre polo OpenAir. Its mint inside and outside and the engine sounds perfect.. I bought it for £1150.

Do you think it was a gd price and a gd choice?

Can people just explain to me the best things i can do to the little 1 litre engine to get abit more juice out of it...ill post pictures of it in a few days.

Great forum here :D

Got yourself a nice first car there by the sounds of it. Black ones look mint when clean, i'd suggest a new induction filter but to be honest seeing as your 17 it's probably going to jack your insurance up more so.

Get those pics up

Welcome mate, good choice for a first car and sounds mint by the description; open-air too :)

Unfortunetly theres not much you can do to ease a bit of power out of it or worthy of the $$$ and effort put in it. Get a performance filter and if you want a manifold, de-cat, backbox etc. It'll increase your insurance premium a lot though but its all up to you. You'd probably have a less powerfull car for atleast 2/3yrs so think about it. I'd just save up for a better car for 2 yrs and start modding on a better base model.

NO idea about power steering. Is it an 'L' or 'CL'?

I think all CL's have power steering but don't quote me on that!

Basic L model has no power steering, but it was optional at a cost!

The CL and up do have it as stock, the no power steering isn't to bad especially when rolling, just monuavers are a bit of a pain, but not as bad as a huge ass BMW 3 series with no powersteering (yea they are hell) so it not to bad :D

Mine's an "L" of a polo  LOL, seriously, mine does not have power steering and even with the wheels and suspension it's easy to turn the wheel even when stationery.

wouldnt bank on it :D ive got a 1.0l, s reg n it doesnt have power steering or even airbags!!! even so, the steerings fine. really easy to work with when moving, and not that difficult stationery either. takes a little getting used to if the car you learnt in has p/s but not too much difference.
