HELP:How do you change a sidelight bulb on a MKVII Polo GTI?

Post by Snake-Plissken »

Hi there and Happy Easter to everyone. (Bring on the chocolate)

As its Spring I see the subject of bulbs is very much the in thing at the moment.

Please could someone help? :D

I`m sure this is a bit gimp but I am having a spot of bother changing the sidelight bulbs on my MKVII GTI. Its the one by the battery that`s causing the most pain.

Is there anyway of easily changing this bulb, or do I really have to remove the battery?

Any help and guidance would be very much appreciated. :D :D :D

Many thanks :D

Had a nightmare with mine to, you need small hands to get at the bulb holder

Cheers Kenny and Rich T, appreciate your replies :D

I`ve tried again but can not get enough of a grip on the bulb holder to pull them out. :( My BIG hands get in the way :(

I`ll give it another go when its a bit warmer then my finger tips won`t hurt so much. (Don`t want to damage my fairy soft hands, see  )

Anyone know a super strong miget with small hands?

Cheers

Try using waterpump pliers as this has an angled head

and borrow a small compact mirror from one of the female members of your family. Angle the mirror behind the light to see the bulb holder you are needing to remove and gently grip with the pliers and a gentle pull should see it out.

Small mirrors are always handy, also be careful when using tools not to break the plastic housing
