Could someone help me identify the temperature sensor please

Post by dn852k4 »

Hi,
I'm a new member to this great forum. I bought a 96 plate Polo last week, a little older than I wanted, but it had been well looked after by it's previous owners, stacks of history and reciepts etc, at £800 I think I got an alright deal.

It's a 1.4 CL, 102k on the clock - the last 60 where motorway miles, body work is in good condition apart from a couple of scabs on the driver's door, but what can you expect for a 12 year old car?

Now on to my main point, the only downside of this car is that the temperature gauge isn't working. I have read the forum and the topics on faulty temparture gauges and sensors, but cannot find the sensor on my engine.

Here's a few pic of where I think the sensor should be. If you could point me in the right direction it would be a great help. :)

Mine got changed by the local garage and I wasn't paying much attention but think you can get your answer by searching for the topic. Temp senders have been discussed here about every month cos its such a common problem lol Just thought searching would speed things up for you

I still can't find it on my engine.
Am I looking in the right area? Can anyone see it in my photographs at all?

Cheers mate. I had a feeling that could have been it, but just wanted to make sure.

Does anyone know the exact part number for the sensor/sender?

Is this the 100% correct part for a 96 plate 1.4 CL polo?

what is the colour on the old one? if the colour is yellow then you have the right temp sensor.
