Hi! Well, the 1.9 TDis are only available in sport trim. Ideally, for the 1.4s, you want one in sport trim if you can find any decent ones around. Check the cambelt has been changed if the car is more than 4 years old or >60k miles. Apart from that, the 9ns don't seem to have problems bar the coilpacks on some of the petrol models. The TDis a tried and tested engine, apart from the MAFs going on a few of them, they're pretty much bulletproof.

And they respond very well to a remap if you're into that sort of thing. With 1.4s, you're looking at anywhere from 105 to 115ish BHP depending on mods, with the 1.9 PD100, you're looking at around 130 - 140 BHP (around 150ish if you swap PD130 injectors in).

Ash :)

1.9 TDI all the way. Only because it's a more tried and tested engine and is less stressed than the 1.4 TDI.

You can get 500 miles out of the tank in a TDI. If you're careful. I get about 50-60mpg on average on the motorway.

and there are a couple of examples for sale on this forum!
