Hi I wonder if anyone can help,
I bought an Mk4 Polo yesterday but when driving home the car started making a loud beep sound from the dashboard, this one beep happens exactly every 30 seconds.
I dont have any manuals or as such with the car, so any help with what could be causing this would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
(p) reg (1997) 1.4 Polo (newbie question)Beep every 30 secs
Its a Blaupunkt Radio Cassette, i am not sure if its OEM or has been added later by the previous owner.
it seems to still beep at the same loudness even if the radio is turned down or on mute, and the radio seems to work fine, i;ll double check it isnt coming through the speakers, but does sound like coming through the dash console.
other than that the radio seems to work fine and to my knowledge there is no Alarm fitted. (there is no Remote control, just a Key)
Thanks for your help

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Tim, i did a search and found out that some Blaukpunt radios beep every 30 seconds when Traffic Announcment is switched on but the station doesent supply TA feed
different topic i know but i dont suppose you know exactly where the Central locking vacum pump is located in the boot do you? as the Central locking also doesent work and the Boot Lock seems jammed (will not turn with key)

central locking pump is inside the offside rear quarter, you can get at it from the boot. on the right theres a panel with 2 little latches at the top, undo them and the panel flaps down n out of the way. you'll see a large lump of high density polystyrene, rip it out (trust me it does come out) n the pumps housed in that. try n remember which way the HDPE comes out so u can get it back in, thats the hard part!!!
Thanks for the info i located the pump thanks
i think that its buggered as there is some green corosion on the terminals of the power connector, and when i turn the key i can hear a click coming from the Pump but nothing else, so i guess there is power getting to it.
Other than the same car i did read somewhere that the same pump is in a Mk3 Golf? is that correct? are there any other cars that use the same pump in case i need to take a trip to the Breakers
Cheers for all your help
