Whining noise when accelarating

Post by kelly84 »

Please can any1 help me.

I have Bryony's old Polo and am loving it but am having some problems.

When i accelarate there is a loud whining noise but as soon as i take my foot off the pedal it stops. Any ideas????

Also the last few days at a constant speed my car starts spluttering and feels like its losing power and also bunny hop's sometimes on the pull away. Could it be a bad batch of petrol or something else.

Need to get it all sorted before i take it to Donny 08 next weekend.

Please help im a women in distress. :-(

It could be your gearbox. Have you had your cambelt and tensioners changed recently?

Mine whines like a b***h...I just pretend its the turbo screaming and turn the radio up...

Im fairly sure its one of the belts/assosiated bearings thats making the noise but until it gets worse or starts to p*** me off, its going to stay as is...

Might be the gearbox. Mine has started making faint whining noises as of a couple of weeks ago. You can hear it slightly in fifth, more so when you press the accelerator

Nah a wheel bearing is speed related, not accelerator related.

mine does it in 5th when accelarating, it sounds like your gearbox.
