Rear Ended *second crash*

Was sitting at the traffic lights and some muppet in a BMW came zooming around the corner and slammed right into the back of me , pulled up and he started arguing with my friend and almost start a fight with my mate, now being my first accident i can go through the insurance but because i haven't told my insurance about smooth bumpers they'l stick a standard bumpers back on there, or i can go private and he said hel pay cash but bearing in mind i need a car as i need it to go college and back and work so im a bit and i wondered if anyone has an ideas

if you trust him and can get it in writing, then do it out of insurance.

otherwise, go through insurance. make sure it's obvious it's his fault.

when i get him to put it in writing do i need him to include anything or just it was my fault kinda thing sory first accident ever had, will it look bad on me to the insurance if i claim or is it ok?

It's also an idea to send a letter to him 'thanking' him for accepting responsibility, and keep a copy of it. It's a little bit of extra paper work you hve for evidence.

How much damage is done exactly? Is it just the bumper, and is it repairable? If it is, ask the garage to smooth it again, they've got to rapir it anyway so it won't cost alot more.

x3 on paperwork and pics of the mangled cars and scene are evidentual to making sure he doesn't mess you about.

Insurance will probably inspect yoru car first and then fit standard parts if not declaring isn't an issue with them. I'd say do it private but atleast if you do it through insurance your not liable for the accident.

Whenever you send a letter and it may be used as evidence, its important to send it recorded delivery. This way they can't say they never saw the letter, looks better in court if it goes this far.

well now the guy has decided he wants to go through the insurance so, told them all the details today, they asked me injury claim i had a pulled muscle but they told me to take pain killers for 2 days i feel fine now, my friend also they will ring him, being only third party they said i might have to pay for it first then claim from his insurance company, as far as a courtesy car am i entitled to one as i need one to get around??

The insurance company is giving out medical advice now? Have you seen your doctor?

They'll try to cut you back on your car damage, you have an injury and it wasn't your fault so stick with your injury claim - they're all terrified by whiplash claims

Whether or not the pains gone you should still claim for it, no matter if the pains gone or still there during claim. It is hardship no matter how much you went through for someone elses mistake.

If you want your car fixed asap then take pics of all the damage and only then fix your car. If you wait for his insurance to pay out it may take some time. The claim should be settled within a decent time as your car was stationary for some time before the accident. Furthermore it was a rear shunt which 90% of the time is the rear persons fault.

well guys second crash and this time with the courtesy car and it was my fault driving like a d**k, was doing about 45 in a ford fiesta and it just slammed on the brakes, and lost control went straight into a zebra crossing post , driver wing damaged bad and track rod snapped with one wheel straight and the other poking out, parked up and within the hour workmen came to cut down the damaged pole

Now my excess on this car is £450 bearing in mind im only 17 so my premiums will go up for sure and i would like to avoid this if possible, well i've got quite a few options now i can either tell the hire company and i will pay £450 or i dont tell them get the car fixed and bring it up to scratch for under £450 but this brings the question of the lampost, did the person who called the workman take down the number plate as well?

Now i don't deserve any sympathy and im already beating myself up more than anyone can imagine as ive also got a lot of other things on my mind so i'd really appreciate it if people posted things on here that would help me please

You should never drive like a **** with someone elses car no matter how tempting it is but guess you've learnt your lesson.

I think the hire company would find out if its not a perfect job. They're very meticulous sometimes in checking for scratches/dents etc when you return the car. If you can't repair it to how it used to look they'd certainly know about it. Furthermore, they won;t be happy with you messing about with their car in any way.

On the other hand your foobared if you tell them and your premium rises quicker then a virgin in a strip joint! So guess its up to you, see how good a job you can get the car repaired. if you can't get a quality job done then don't waste the cash then get foobared by them finding out!
