If VW are telling me the truth they are basically saying that these cars need 10 litres of oil between services

. Im sorry but thats horse ****.
Im fairly sure the engine code for my engine is BBZ
I'm afraid that I also moved to VW for similar reasons, my 2000MY Passat is good as it is just a load of old superceded Audi parts, so quality is where it should be (but by default), my wife's 2002MY Polo 9N on the other hand is average quality for this market internally, but where it counts, ie chassis and running gear, it is diabolical - which is what you could expect as these parts are all Skoda design and manufacture. I was stupid enough not to consider this back in 2002, in fact I really wanted my wife to get another Fiesta but she chose the Polo - oh and the rust resistance is not what I would expect either. In general I think that VW is just the same as BMW and MB - they are all living on their past good name earned by supplying reasonable cars, until Jo Public walks away (but to where?) en mass, this is all we deserve to get for our money.
On the oil consumption, I'm wishing that I bought 15 litres of oil when I bought it to change the Passat oil - I only bought 10 litres and the Passat takes 5.5 litres - so it will be touch and go for the next 10,000 miles.
BBZ engine, I think that this is okay as it was the A*** engines that mainly had the piston ring problems.
