whoops.... been a muppet!

Post by Andy1.6 »

I was tryig to find a new place to put my multi 12v power plug thingy this morning, picked up my screw driver and aimed blindly for the screw in the back of the tray bit in the centre and accidently went into the cigarette lighter, shorted it out, sparks and now it doesnt work and nor does my head unit! Assume it has blown the fuse!

Can anybody tell me which fuse i need to go and buy and where do i take the old one from?

Cheers!

The fusebox is below your steering whell glovebox. The lid shows which fuse is for the lighter and where it is amongst in on the box.

I've done something to my car and the outcome is similar. :?
I tried to power a hair drier via a DC to 240V AC power inverter and it seems to have messed up my head unit and cig lighter.
Before it both used to work when the ignition is off, now they both dont work when the ignition is off nor when it is on (I haven't yet tried it when the engine is running). The only work when the key is halfway turned from position 1/i and position 0, a very small area when they power on. Is this a common fault?
Also where in the fusebox is the fuse for the HU and cig lighter? my listing on the glove box doesn't correspond to the actual fusebox.
I have a line of 24 vertically placed fuses under a line of about 8 or so horizontally placed fuses.
My glove box listing says the fuse for the clock and dash is a number under 20, yet its like the 3rd/4th fuse along the top. :? very confusing

If there is another fix apart from the fuses please help me.
