Another project, the Westy

Post by Ollie_R »

This is going to be a joint project between me and my dad. It's a beige/cream T25 Westy, imported from San Diego. We're going to stick a set of Merc SL wheels on it in the future, hopefully. It's a bit weird driving a left hooker for the first time, but hopefully I should get on with it fine. Some pics:

There's a pic of the daily Micra in there. That is going to be decked 100mm+ on the RH Cups from my old Polo, with a bit of JDM stuff to follow hopefully.

Just kidding :P

Nice! importing it from the US must have been a bit of a mission though.

Yeah, the plates have to stay, I think. Although we'll get some UK plates, the US ones will get rolled out for shows, genuine US plates FTW :P

Getting it from San Diego was a bit of a pain in the arse, it cost quite a bit to get it over, but it was worth it in the end.

I think it needs to be taken to the shows this year, it has a cooker and a fridge as well, hopefully a decent sound system (if we sort out the fooked electrics).

It is very clean underneath and the engine was rebuilt about 1,000 miles ago. It's just some cosmetic bits need sorting.

My Dad's budget couldn't stretch for a Splitty, unfortunately :(

But you all know I tend to see beauty in ugly things (i.e. the Scirocco). All I can say is that it was a good buy for £3,000!

My Dad brought the new wheels and tyres home yesterday. However, the second-hand tyres he put on the wheels were damaged, and he refused to put them on! But the wheels look hot; they're the 16" 8-hole Mercedes SL wheels, refurbed in a diamond-cut finish. The tyres were low profile 205/50/16 Michelins, but they had major cracking on the sidewalls.

We put some smoked taillights and I'm going to try putting the smoked front indicators on today.

And it's getting dropped soon on a H&R kit, say 60mm

My Dad doesn't hang around, does he? Maybe I should get cracking with the Rocco.

I *think* it's a 1.9 watercooled fuel injection. But I'm not 100% sure. The new smoked indicators are wired differently to the originals, so a bit more thought will need to go in to fitting them.

I've got some big plans for the Rocco now, after seeing some tasty examples at the Spring Fest! Plans include a bit of paint, new wheesl and some interesting engine mods. Watch this space!
