Ha Ha Brilliant.

A Mechanic thinking he could fail an MOT without an Antiroll Bar.

Even if it did come with onr they cannont fail you on it being missing! All its there for is to stiffen the chassis when kicking the f**k out of a car, just because the points are there for it dont mean it come with it!

Thats like saying a MK5 would fail for not having the front fogs fittted properly as there is the fixing for it but no lights lol.

As for the Plates lights, as long as they aint any colour aprat from white, and not causing dazzel or anything there aint a prob with them. You must have reflectors for an MOT as if your lights fail these are what show up at night!

Sounds like you got a good MOT tester there lol, Think you should knock that one on the head and take it to a decent garage, Even Vw etc, as all MOT's are ROughly £40 nowadays!

Are you still having to pay for the re-test?, if you are I think that's bang out of order.

nah didn't have to pay for the re-test luckily!

the garage we use are brilliant, but they have to take it to a private MOT tester. these MOTers have done my car 3 times and my bro's once without any problems.

weirdly with the lights, they are standard mk5 rears so they do have a reflector built in, but they have been darkened with tinting spray. what the MOT tester was saying was that the reflectors didn't show up red :?

they did last night when we drove up behind her car in my car with the lights on

Dont think the first part is completely true because if you have two reversing lights and one is not working it would not pass the MOT even though by law you need only 1 reversing light. If the car has that feature it has to work. So perhaps this might be the case with some other safety parts in some cases.

Anyway sounds like a shocking MOT place.

as i said, its the first problem we've had with them, and by the sounds of it, its the first weird problem that my Seat garage have had with them!

oddly, on the subject of things not working on a car at MOT test, i was doing some searching on the matter on the day it failed and apparently (don't quote me on this), if you had disconnected all your lights, they can't be tested and therefore they can't fail your car :?

sounds weird to me, and a bit extreme :D
