Hi there, new to the forum as i have just purchased a polo GTI.was just wandering really if i should be worried car feels like its runs well and very well built but my mate has a LUPO gti which i thought was the same engine and it seems alot more pokier than mine i know this could be down to a lesser wieght but the polo feels like it has a massive dead spot compared to the lupo,Any advice please people?the car has only done 53000 to with FVWSH.also when you start it up it sounds like a diesil for five seconds is that the tappets re-adjusting.?(not every time you fire the car up)
Is your mate's Lupo a 6-speed model? If so, it will be quicker simply because of the shorter gear ratios. Also as you have pointed out, it is much lighter than the Polo!
Welcome to the forum. As Si said, the Lupo is faster because of the gear ratios and it is around 150kg lighter. Lupos are cool but I'd rather have the Polo, hence why I bought one
thanks for the replies everyone, just another question i checked the air filter today and the was an oil residue in the air box housing,Any opinions?whats the easiest way to go abouts gettin a bit more power without killing the fuel and reliability?
A BMC air filter, manifold, catback system and remap are all good for small power gains. But with more power you get the more strain on the shoddy gearbox!
