Mine's got a Scorpion/Quantum brochure in the service folder too, maybe Quantum are the VW arm of Scorpion?

Crap alarm anyway.

Actually, to be fair, when my car got broken into last (April 2001) my old alarm did actually stop the burglar from getting anywhere.

I had my Toad alarm fitted within a fortnight though, and have had no trouble since. 8) touch wood.

I was robbed - cost me £450 including central locking, fitted to the car.

Took it to a garage who did nasty things to my car while fitting it, and didn't fit it properly - using bullet connectors instead of soldering the sensors on, and mounting the shock sensor on the wiring loom with a cable tie, cutting up the door seals and drilling holes in the doors then not covering the bare metal.

Tossers.

Make sure you check out a good place to get an alarm fitted, or you'll regret it. After a year my central locking packed in, and rather than take it back to the place who butchered my poor car I took it to my regular mechanic who stripped it out and fitted it properly. I've had no problems since.

I have been quoted more than that. Somewhere in the region of £545. All I want is a Thatcham cat1 and central locking. Do you reckon the local yellow pages will be fruitful?

Thanks.

try national vehicle security 01142349927 07786194655

they come to your house / work /prison cell and install your alarm.
£199 for a cat1 fitted.
you get the certificate too.
mates girlfriend had one fitted to her audi coupe and its quite good, only let down is the keyfob aint as nice looking as the clifford ones.
If you can live with that u will be fine.

hmmm, I can see me giving them a try. I'm not really bothered about carbon fibre effect keyfobs, just as long as they don't pack up after a year.

Thanks.

Karl.

talking about alarms, my car has one, but when i got it, it didn't work (well it did, just went off every minute and wouldn't stop). it was activated by a switch under the dash with an non flashing LED mounted infront of the clocks! i was told it was fitted my the vw garage when the car was brand new.

i have recently managed to fix the alarm, it was the boot connection earthing on the body. but as to who makes it, i have no idea! there were no stickers (only the usual "this car is alarmed") but i would like to no who makes it and wot grade alarm it is!j n e ideas?
