Nah man, old colour looked sh!t frankly. It wasnt even a nice shade of red, scratched all over, loads of dents, had about 100 touch-ups all in a slightly different shade! At least now there's no dents and it's all the same colour. To be fair, it was probably more ratty before the matt-blackness!!!
I like it anyway, I bought a mk1 cos i wanted something unique, then it seemed like everyone and his wife was buying them so I decided to change the colour to something a bit 'different'. If it was a chrome bumper model with low milage and no dents, then it would have stayed the original colour. However, it wasnt! Feel free to buy it off me and respray it in the original colour though if you feel so strongly about it!!!

I must honestly say I also don't like it. Although I myself thought about painting mine in black, I now see that it's too small car for black, specially matt, and it looks kinda weird.
