just done mine today whitepolo gti, its the same as yours, but not as big of a vent, same brand though haha, will have to call it the marley mod

its trial fitted now, just needs painting and i have some mesh for behind the vents to prevent a little mere debris movement, not that i think it would be much of a problem anyway, pics will be up tomorrow, but defo a quality cheap mod

nice one its a good mod but some of my paint come off cos i was rushing and didnt let it dry prop LOL think under car sealer will be better something like shults! also i could have made it a little lower but hey it cost next to nothing! When car is warm and the fans on you can feel heat comin out! Wonder if it worth doing on other side just for ya air con and rad etc :?

possibly, but ill stick with just this one for now, im going to just matt black it, give it a few coats then a light clear coat so it does not take forever to dry

i also think where you have mounted it is fine, as heat rises remember, it will defo find its way out im sure

Nice mod!

I will definately carry it out as well before my track day. Which way was your vent facing Jeff when you installed yours?

I also think it's a good mod.

FMICs have loads of problems with potential damage from debris. A stone flicked around the arch could have just as much force, but it would be unlucky to be flicked straight at the intercooler! But there's such a thing as Murphy's law....

Sorry for any offence caused, but if we don't offer improvements then the forum is weaker as a result.

i agree with you david, hence me installing the meshing too

and my vent is also positioned sideways out, to clear the heat out of the arch, but is a smaller unit, should be all but just as effective though

exactly, just wack something like this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DIAMOND-MESH-GRIL ... dZViewItem

behind neatly cut vents in this plastic and it'll look neat, tidy and will be safe.

Defo worth doing, but you've still got the fog light blocking the air intake to the intercooler - Cup bupers however have a nice large intake and duct to the SMIC

all done and dusted now, its really quite a neat job and not really in your face, defo worth the time it takes to do as it must release the previously hot air im sure

anyway, heres a few (crap admittedly) photos of the job, and one of the final result, i used my phone so the pics are mainly side on so youll need to tilt your head a bit haha

so first of all, the vent freshly matt blacked and clear coated
Image

then the vent fitted to the cutouts in the arch that i made
Image

the meshing bonded and bolted in to place from the rear
Image

a shot from the arch side before re fitting the arch, should have no debris issues here
Image

and all fitted back in to place,
Image

and yes, the comps are now back on now the weather improving
