Thanks Whitepolo ;-)

A little off topic.. but.. related...

Whitepolo have you tried running an MBC in Parallel to the N75 ( I know you like to tinker.. hehehe).

You see the map is capable of running more boost and will do so if you cap off the overboost.. The K03s is very keen to overboost at approx 3200rpm...(can make 1.3-1.4 bar) the ecu sees this and pull things back a little... but actually pulls back a little too much. (Common problem on the 1.8T) So you will see a good 1.0bar.

So if you fit MBC in parallel to N75 set to say 1.2 bar then that is the max overboost that will happen. The ecu is happy so lets everything keep going and it will request 1.2bar. You see the ecu/N75 struggle to repsond as quick as the k03s can spool. So if the MBC sees boost reaching more than 1.2 bar then it will open the wastegate instead of the N75 doing it.

So why not just run the MBC..?. the MBC can be set to run 1.2bar but then you will hit limp mode because the ecu doesnt want to run big boost higher in the rev range and it will see the large difference between requested and actual and so limp... and even though N75 is not in charge of boost the ecu can use N249 to open the DV or close the throttle plate or pull timing and so on.

My Polo like yours has had N249 bypass and MBC in Parallel. It goes well ;-)

Sorry went off topic forgot to answer about fuel economy.....

Drive "normally" most customers report better MPG....

Drive hard.... more boost = more fuel... but A LOT more FUN ;-)

How accurate the computers are I dont know but in my Polo running the Remap for the last 1720miles shows 34.1 average mpg - I just looked at the dash - some of that has been serious foot down stuff, some motorway - some town driving.

Hope this helps, Jason

been looking into it but need a boost gauge or vag com plug! to set it up right! been reading into it on vwvortex and alot of people in the USA have to "clamp the map" sensor so the ecu doesnt see the overboost thus no limp many of them running over 20psi with mbc! but heard anything over 19psi is a waste! wat is the max the software lets it go too? heard an mbc causes surge problems on part throttle etc! seems better with no n249 valve and holds all way to redline! but i have experienced that "on and off" boost if i use WOT part throttle seems to be more power! see this topic good read http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?& ... 1#47840251

Yes I have the diode - just trying to get it to work - all the wires are different colours from any of the write ups I've seen.

Will try again tomorrow, and let you know.

Anymore than 17-18psi (1.2bar) then you need a better intercooler... its hard to believe the standard one actually does anything is so small and so tucked away.... but standard boost is only a little over 0.5 bar... so wont need much cooling...

When you log with VAGCOM you will see the max requested boost comes out about 1.25 bar so set the MBC around this figure.
