HELP! I'm useless =[

Post by gemmiella »

Hi,

I bought a 1997 polo for my first car and it has 15 inch alloy wheels on it, but I dont know if one of the flaps is broken, or whether there is a rubbing issue... its only when i turn left so is there anything I can do to resolve it =/ I've not driven it properly yet, cause I've only just passed... so help... please ? =]

Thanks very much =]
I'll post some pictures when I can

What tire size you got on the 15's?

Has the car been lowered?

Does the car pull to one side?

Do you have a loose mud flap?

no it hasnt been lowered... i dont know what the tyre size is, all i know is they are 15 inch alloys... it doesnt pull left, it just rubs on the front flap when i turn left. just wondering if its easy enough to just take them off??

You can tell the tyre side by looking on the side of the tyre, ie. 195/45/15.

When flap du mean mud flap?

Yeh just take them off.

Do you even need to take your wheels off? (I've never had mudflaps)

Can't you just turn the wheel full lock to gain access?

haha. i got my daddy to take them off for me cause im special =/ lol.
we found out what the problem was though. or my dad rather.
basically, the inner plastic arch bit (sorry im a woman i dont know what these things are called) was on the outside of the mudflap rather than inside. but it was outside cause it was broken. so we took both off both sides and now no rubbing!

and you dont need to take the wheels off, just put full lock on the appropriate way! =]

i may paint my calipers later if i can be bothered =/

i need a new tyre and new valve now. its crap haha.

any ideas how much a new valve costs?

Not sure on a new valve, but looks like you're in derby...go to 'derby tyres' or 'inner ring tyres' cause they seem to do good prices and are quite friendly!
