GTI into a 1litre

Just an idea im currently playing with but nothing for sure, is it possible to put a GTI engine into a 1 litre

, cheaper than buying a GTI and be faster than one as i won't have any of the extra's, but one is it possible and two will i have to change the gearbox or anything else

Im doing exactly this. Its alot more than just engine. You need bigger brakes, whole wiring loom for the engine, new rear axle if you want the anti roll bar, clocks, keys. There are a load of extras

hmm so quite a lot of things lool have you got any idea on price, also will it be fairly easy considering there the same size and will all the holes be there if you get what i mean?

In terms of engine conversions it will be reasonably straight forward. But with parts and labour your looking at like Â£2.5-3k

Its actually a little more complicated. You need to replace whole engine loom, and all the wiring in the interior harness up to the clocks and the pedal box which is quite alot!

Price wise your about right there tim its costly!

its worth doing if you ar mechanicly minded and know wat your doing when it comes to cars but yes you do need a new gear box along with breaking system as i found out you dont need the dials and not sure you even need a wiring loom unless you want the extras such as climate control and all those luvly things.
But u will need a new ecu and transponder and chip set suited for a 1.6 GTI in the long run its alot but its all worth.

lool this is currently im currently toying with, but i want to do a proper job, and im currently a trainee mechanic so tools and engine hoist and other tools won't be a problem but i don't have enough expertise to do it, plus a shopping list of parts, lol does anyone have a DIY guide for this

also where i could get the eingine mounts from

I had a 1.4 Match and my GTI conversion cost me less than half that. If you find a cheap mechanic he will do this on the side! Mine did his on the odd weekday and weekend but the downside was it took a few weeks!

And the car will be faster than a standard GTI...

You do need a lot from the donor car... engine, gearbox, ecu, peddlebox, wiring loom, clocks, ignition barrel, keys (P.S im selling all the parts you need

)
