What car du have?

Has it been off the road for a while? Leaving the handbrake on for a couple of weeks can cause the brakes to seize

Probably a mark5 then, is it the same shape as mine? (the car in my sig).

If so, the ABS light is a common fault. It's very often just a sensor. GEt a garage to run it through vagcom to find out where the faults coming from, replace that sensor (small money) then see if that helps

I think that you will find that the handbrake levers on the rear brake shoes have seized. Its probably easier to buy a set of new shoes from Euro Car Parts or some other after market place SBP ones at ECP only cost £33.03 if you change the fitting kit as well (shoes are only £19 +VAT). Easy enough to change - you will need new hub nuts as well £12.55 I think.
