my 16v does atleast 240-50miles on a full tank ie 40-45 litres so it may be slightly under what you should expect although i'm not sure what the 1.6's are like for juice. you could also check the lamba sensor which can also make a difference.

crack in the exhaust manifold is a possibilty. My 1.4 dropped to around that much when i had a dirty, untreated, two inch fracture in it lol. So could be that.

Ive also found that resetting the ecu can sometimes lead you back to a decent mpg. Just take the battery off for half hour then plug it back in again. Though really you shouldnt have to do this very often if at all. Give it a try though it cant do no harm!

Normal idle is at 1000rpm. If your car starts cold then it will idle slightly higher to begin with, which isn't a fault. My 16v idles around 900rpm when upto temp which i've been told is normal for the model.

How on earth you manage 200miles from £25 :?: Surely it included motorway miles or something? I never managed that in my old 1.4CL nor my current 16v. I get 240-50 average from a full tank on town driving.
