As you know ive got a 1 litre mk4 and want to add a little bit more stopping power to it so what i am suggesting to do is to convert the rear drums into discs, could anyone point me in the direction of any kits or what parts i need.
cheers guys
A guy was telling me on ebay that you can put the mk 5 disc brakes on the mk 4.
However he told me everything that needed be to changed.. and their was quiet alot... but I def agree with you, its something worth doing.. i think i gave up a little too easily on this one.
i know it is a bit riduclus,im going to be learning to drive soon and really just wanted to make sure that i didnt have to worry about my braking distance being to long/slow and plus i will soon be looking to produce a little more power at some point so wanted to be safe!
thanks for the help !
the 1.0es have more than adequate braking power. I used to drive one (well i still do till next week), and i have never had any problem with them. Just need to make sure you have plenty left on your front brakes, as the rears do bugger all anyway
You cant use Mk5 brakes as they are ABS assisted - the speed sensors wont work properly.

Wouldn't you just not link the sensors then, or am I wrong? As many of the mark 4's didn't choose to have the ABS add on. As for for brake conversion, don't think there is much point as the 1.4 and 1.0 use the same brakes, modding a 1.0 heavily will probably get you to 60BHP, meaning it would only be as powerful as a 1.4.
I'll have to agree with Alex. Theres no point in getting the rears converted for better stopage when just upgrading the fronts to G60's would cater for your need more then enough. On underpowered cars we just do it mostly just for the sake of modifying or better brakes if nackered. Like Tim said, I wouldn't be relying on better brakes if you have doubts about your driving, just get more practice in.
