I can beat that! When I had my A3 a few years back I ran over a 6" tent peg! Dug into the tyre, then coz of the size of it got pulled around the arch scraping all the paint off the lip until I pulled over!!

At least you found it sooner rather than later mate! Also count yourself lucky that that is in a tyre that looks [almost] ready for replacement ;) Hate it to have been on a 'new' tyre :P

Good stuff tho'

yeah, it doesn't bother me at all really, just a hassle that I had to switch everything over.

very glad I did my sub install so I could still get to the spare.

my last tyre got a panel pin in the side of it. it had only done 20 miles and wasn't repairable. gutted.

pretty sure the tyre wasn't legal anyway. or it was very close - I was going to change it this weekend anyway!

Lucky you! I got a puncture in my back wheel last week. That tyre was perfectly fine with loads of tread left, whereas the one on the front needed replacing. Ended up having to get two new tyres then, one for that back with the puncture and the almost bald one on the front. Cost me £180 for the two!

It couldn't have been the other way round now could it

at one point in our old polo we were getting a nail in our tyre nearly every month. turned out that the guy who made fences down at the farm kept dropping them! so annoying to constantly have to get it sorted and expensive!!

Its not good to have screws/nails/glass/any other hard bits penatrated the casing - if you are lucky it will only be a short one - you will only find out if you remove it, consider its length and spit on the damaged area (to check for bubbles). If you are truely concerned and drive long distance and/or in a brisk fashion, I'd prepare to get it fixed at a convenient time, remove the screw/nail/etc - if it leaks change the wheel and take the leaking tyre to get sorted then refit it.
In my case, one very dark very wet night, I was about 200 meters from my house, went around a narrow tight walled bend then suddenly heard/felt a loud glunck once every wheel rotation - drove into the garage took the wheel off and discovered about 90% of an old broken Ford cast iron manifold clamp had pierced the front tyre. I did not need a second opinion - that tyre was scrap!!
