some problems with my gt help needed please

Hi all, i need help with a couple of things, my car is a 5dr 55 plate gt, first off all, has anyone experienced creaks and rattles, im getting some from the dash, and also one coming from inside my drivers door, they are driving me bloody crazy. And i think i have a fuel issue, my car has only did around 19000, if i put 20 quid in, im only getting around 120/130 miles, according to some other volkswagen tdi owners i have spoken to with a 1.9/2.0 engine, they are getting around the 200 mark out of there 20 quid, i feel like i am driving my petrol car again as my consumptuion is so poor, please help, thx all .

I'm afraid creaks and rattles are commonplace - it's the one thing that annoys me too.

if you don't have one, fit a strut brace - they reduce creaks a lot.

apparently you can take the dash apart and "lube" it to remove the creaks. hmmm.

as for the consumption - that is definitely a problem, unless you are doing all town driving and less than 2 miles per trip?

Yeah the consumption does sound a bit low, although with fuel prices £20 doesn't go as far as it used to

I average around 50mpg with mostly motorway driving (at 80) according to the trip. What is your trip telling you after a few hundred miles?

As for the creaks and rattles, yes they all seem to have that. A mate of mine futted a strut brace which did improve them, but if you've got a 55 plate then it'll still be under VW warranty so get them to sort it out. I took mine back a few times to get them sorted, back when I still had warranty

Hi peeps, my trip is reading 36.1 mpg, which is pretty poor, my old car which was a civic vti was doing about 120 out of 20 quid. I feel like i im driving a petrol car again, i dont really do any motorway driving, it is mainly short trips i do. 2 weeks ago i was getting around the 160 mark out of 20 quid. My last 20 quid ran out 2 days ago, i only managed around the 120/125 miles. Even though the trip is saying im getting 36 now, im not even getting that, im only getting around 30 if i am lucky, which is abismal. I think ill be phoneing the dealer soon, are there any known faults on the polo gts regarding bad fuels consumption? cheers .
