I really wouldn't bother with the UDS, Tim. It's meant to go over the SRP to provide a glossy finish on dark paints.

If you want to "step up" as it were, I'd recommend something like Carlack 68 or Klasse AIO, which are both similar products, which clean, polish and protect the paint, leaving it ready for the wax of your choice. Or if you want something very special, I'd go for some Zaino 8)

Would you say those 3 recommendations would be good to use for a regular wash and polish, and bring out a decent shine on black cars Ollie?

They're all going to be awesome on black paint Tim. But the Zaino finish will the best, hands down. Zaino also works as a sealant, which doesn't need to be topped with a conventional wax.

Some photos of some cars with Zaino polish applied;

But the Klasse AIO and the Carlack are both easy to apply and will do very nicely as a regular polish. You only need to polish every 4-6 months really, anything else will be a waste.

I'd go for the Klasse AIO/Carlack if you're going to top it with Collinite, it's an awesome combo 8)

Meguiars range FTL, there are so many products out there that are better and more effective.

AG Ultra Deep Crap - don't bother! I still have a full bottle in my garage somewhere!

I agree with Ollie, some sound advice there. I'm loving Menzerna products on the tough VW paint.

Applied via PC, Menzerna Intensive Polish works so good, it's LSP ready. Will be doing the golf with Menz IP followed by Meguiars #21 (one of my fave sealants) and then followed by Nattys Blue.

Tried and tested. Wasn't greatly impressed. It's good for starters really, until you get on your feet.

the claybar kit is very good however

tim, rather than spend it all on a new top wax/sealant etc id pop the money away, get rid of the swirls otherwise no matter how good thepolish you'll still see them and they will drive you nuts.

I'd disagree.

I want to get the products and methods right first, that way I know exactly what I'm doing.

There's no point in getting rid of all the swirl marks, then quite possibly putting more back on faffing about with a load of different products and experimenting with different techniques.

I want all the products and techniques dialled before I pay 80 for a machine polish.
