Hmm maybe, i had the garage check the vacum and what not while it was there. i've disconnected the battery tonight see if thast makes any difference tomorrow. I'll end up opending the bonnet up and thinking of problems it may be. I even checked the damn throttle body tonight, its clean as hell. No one seems to be able to put thir finger directly on it. I'm not taking it to VW, they'll charge me to much.

My old man thinks its the valves or the idle control one, he had a listen and the engine sounds like this:

Ts ts ts tvr, Ts ts ts tvr, Ts ts ts tvr, Ts ts ts tvr... whilst the 1.4 which runs like a car is ts ts ts ts ts ts ts ts ts ts ts ts ts.

However I have not got a clue on valves or working on them.

I certainly wouldn't bother changine the clutch for this issue and if did would be the last in trial and error!

Most people don't try the temp sendor or the idle control valve, which are most likely to be the error so get on it guys. don't know what i'm talking about, still ain't bought myself a temp sendor

  Take note that this happens more often during colder days then hot days. On most days like today it will still do it however, if the weathers really hot then it happens less often: for me anyway! Mine did it non-stop all through winter last year then through summer it totally went and would occasionally show up every few months. Since last summer left its been playing up again. So its not water getting in, somethings wrong and the air mixture makes it worse.

By the way, its not only polo's, do a search and you'd find this gremlin going on in other cars!
