Game advice needed! PS2

Post by charlievwp »

Can anyone recommend a good driving game (that is available on PS2) :?:

It's my boyfriends birthday coming up very soon and I can't afford to buy a PS3, Xbox or Wii console this year round so wanted to buy a couple of good games for the PS2 instead.

He has already completed all of the 'Need for Speed' series,
and also has Grand Turismo 3, WRC3 and F1 2001.

Any suggestions please guys and gals?! :D

NB: He loved the gameplay of Need for Speed.....anything relatively similar?

Drivers all police and mission based, all missions involve get from A to B whilst police chasing you. Liked the first one, didn't like the second one, never played anymore of the series.

Part from that I'd say the gameplay is limited, so go for something else with more to do. Either that or get his PS2 soft-modded (aslong as its the fat ps2, not the skinny one), that way he can just download games onto it.

lol I do soft mods, all you need is:

Fat ps2
PS2 Memory card
Network adapter (they are now pricey £40)
IDE Hard drive, around £40 for 120gb (well any hard drive size really)
Any ps1 game, can be a demo as it will trigger the soft mod.

No soldering nothing, as the ps2 had a huge exploit where a ps1 game can trigger a file from the memory card to run. I got about 25 games on a 120gb hard drive and its about 40% full. Great thing is, you can borrow any of your friends PS2 games and just copy it directly to the hard drive. It also allows you to play games of any region.

I quite like that game, its changed quite a bit since polo-sib last played played one by the sounds the of it. Its now a bit more like GTA, with a free roam thing so you can drive around and do what you want or drive to the missions.

1 thing with it is it does have quite alot of stuff to do other than driving (basically getting out the car walking and shooting alot of people), so if he doesnt want that, just a driving game, then one of the other games would be better really

If he likes the Need for speed series, then he would probably like the burnout games. I havent really tried the Burnout games myself, but I believe they are a bit like the NFS games in terms of driving style (ish?)
