Post by M@Turner »

Reason i ask is today as i hoovered the interior out ( damn girlfriends with long blonde hair :P ) i noticed some stitching has come undone on the drivers seat!!! his means the seat has lost some of its shape!

Will take some pics tomoz and post up!

Anyone had the same problem or know if VW will sort it under warranty???

girlfriends ??

Found this on the vw warranty info web page....looks like they'll only honour it below 6,250 mileage or 6 months :?
Does that help you?

"Items where the lifetime of the component is or can be influenced by driving style and external factors will only be considered under the terms of the warranty for a period of six months or 6,250 miles (whichever is soonest).Beyond that limit, the defects must be classified as wear and tear and will not be covered by the Volkswagen warranty.

Components subject to wear and tear include, but are not limited to:

Brake linings and disc pads
Clutch release bearings
Clutch pressure plates and centre plates
Tyres
Wiper blades (wiper rubbers have no warranty owing to their conditions of use)
Seat and backrest covers
Floor coverings
Spark plugs
Batteries for key fobs and alarms
Light bulbs
Shock Absorbers"

By girlfriends i was speaking on behalf of all men who have the same problem!!! I know my girlfriend is not the only girl with long blonde hair!!!

Cheers for that info though Charlie. Looks like i'm outta luck though as car is 16months old and covered 9860 miles!! Pretty poor in my opinion really, seen as my old Polo had covered 60k and was 7 years old with no issues! :?

Whats the chances of me getting it sorted if i kick up a fuss!???

Maybe i'll have to look into interior trimmers to re - stitch it!

Took my seat back as the frame was goosed and they replaced it, but had to take it back as they refit the cover incorrectly  Looks like someones button off jeans etc has caught the thread and cut it, causing it to pull through!! :?

Well all the jeans i where when driving this Polo are the same as the ones i wore when driving my old Polo which had no problems!!! :?

Gonna take it down this afternoon and see what they say. Might have to take it to a few local dealers and see if any accept its a warranty claim.

Well my new seat cover was fitted on Wednesday and whilst they were at it, they did the recall gearbox oil, and fitted me a GTi sill protector on the passenger side!!! (didn't have one when i bought it from the Derby dealership!! )

Got to have a quick sit in her brand new Golf GT tdi. 8) Very nice, gotta love the steering wheel, leather and auto xenon lights but a tad big for me at the moment!
