rear spoiler brake lights ?

Post by yosin »

i just put on some rear led lights like these ;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-POLO-MK4-94-CH ... dZViewItem

On my old set of rear lights, the rear spoiler would have two bluey/white wires which would slot into the old set of lights on the top slot where the plugs are on the rear lights...

however on the new set of lights i have there aint no place to slot them?

any ideas? thanks  [/url]

also with these lights...i put it into reverse to test the lights...and only the lights in the middle light up for reverse not on the bottom as with the old lights....is this right or is there some confusion of wires along the lines?

It seems to me they are designed to fit a MK5 Polo from what you have described.

This thread will possibly help. Take a look to see if it makes any sense with the lights you have: http://www.tigerstyle.co.uk/poloforum/v ... php?t=9117

as it happens i have these lights currently on my car. i have a 6n2 model tho so i dont have a spoiler but i have a 3rd break light but i dont know of any plug to plug it into tho. the reverse light i have is in the centre where u got a reverse then the reflector then the indicator. no reverse at the bottom tho only in the centre.

if u look at the pic you'll see red (altho theyre actually silver in the pic) LED's at the top and bottom of the light (2 rows top and 2 rows bottom).
the ones on the bottom are ur fog lights (mine are only wired up so one works tho not both sides which u can have) the ones on the top are ur brake lights and both sides should light up when u put ur brakes on.

the 2 rows of red led's (coloured red in the pic) one row above and one row below the lights in the middle are your lights. so when u put ur lights on it is these 2 rows that come on.

then the ones in the middle. u got the red circular reflector in the middle then the one on the outside i believe is ur indicator (not pictured but these would have orange bulbs in as the lense is clear) and the ones on the inside are ur reverse lights again u can have them both wired up but i only have the one working.

only have one reverse and one fog is fine it will pass the mot but u can wire up both sides to work if u want.

so to sum up the lights are: (the 2 sides are just mirror images of each other)

top 2 rows of leds are ur break lights.
the one single row (red led's) after that is ur normal back lights.
the next is normal bulbs inside light i think is reverse and then u got the reflector then the one on the outside is indicator.
then another line (red led's) again are ur normal back lights.
then the 2 rows of leds below that at the bottom are ur fog lights.

hope this helps... any more info i will see wat i can do......
