100BHP AFT engine

Post by Rmachines »

Hi, I have a 1.4L AEX engine and i know the 1.6L AEE engine is a nice easy swap only needing a few diffrent parts.

Does any one know what would be needed if i was to change to the AFT 100BHP Engine? Is the gearbox diffrent? Loom? ECU? etc? Or will most of the AEX engine parts fit. things the starter etc.. as well.

any help will be much appreciated :) thanks

erm.... whats an AFT? Ive never heard of it Only engine codes i know for the polo are the AFH (i think is 16v), AEV, AEX and AEE. Oh and AEA, which is essentially the same as the AEE i believe.

There is deffinatly an 8V 1.6L AFT engine. Mabey it was only used in the golf?!

I was told about two engines. 1.4L 16V 100bhp and 1.6L 8V 100BHP I guessed both were polo but the other must have just been the golf?

AEK AFT and AKS are the 100BHP 1.6 8V. Mabey it was one of the others used. Has any one got a photo of one of these engines?

Cheers.

Theres some youtubeage of a AFT engine. It was infact a Golf 1.6 engine as a standard fitment, the polo got it as a crossover on a select number of classic models.

It was an 8V though, so it wont pick up massively quickly compared to its sister 16V version :(

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH how could i forget about that! When i think polo i purely think of the standard 6N's, discluding the estates and saloons. In that case sir your inedeed correct the AFT does exist. Dont think it fits in a 6N polo though as its a tallblock engine if memory serves. I shall have a look at that video now on youtube too see if im right. shouldve done that before typing all this i guess lol...

Its not a tall block im pretty sure of that, this one tilts forward like the AEX in my golf.. my other golf has a tall block 1.8L engine that this back, looking at the side view on auto data it looks exactly the same as the AEE/AEX engine could be wrong though :D
