1.2 s polo not reving past 30?

i brought a polo 1.2 s 52 reg from an auction, SOLD AS SEEN, anyway the car does not rev over 30. (half way) there is a tube in the engine that is not connected to anything but looks like it should be, The tube sucks air in by the way. what shall i do? please help me

that sounds like it could be some kind of vacuum pipe. Do you have any pictures?

How is the car running? does it sound rough? mine wouldn't go over 40mph when it dropped a cyl because of a dodgy coilpack

ah yes that's an easy one! that just goes onto the engine cover/airbox (the airbox is within the engine cover) If you have a look at the cover you'll be able to see where it is.

the car is quite not rough works fine untill 3k rev, im stumped

post up a pic of the bottom of the engine cover, i'll show you where it goes.

yeah, you should have a big black bit of plastic that acts as the airbox and also covers the engine. That hose goes onto the engine cover / airbox.
