Yeh mate, go to a general garage, or a performance specialist. Just remember you'll need to get your camber and tracking done after which will cost an additional £40 approx.

£350 to fit springs!!

I paid £50 (an hours labour) at VAG Tech to have my coilovers fitted then the same again at Automotive Performance Services to have my tracking/camber sorted .

I got quoted roughly £250 for fitting and then camber/tracking laser aligned by both JBS and Swifts (VW, Audi specialist) in Sheffield.

My brothers mate works for Toyota though so got it done for £120!

Do it yourself = FREE

(apart from having to buy/hire spring clamps)

There are plenty of guides around on the internet to help you.

The skills you learn will help you for years.. the more you can do yourself the more you save in the future.

I look at it like this.....

You can either go to a garage and pay them £50 (£150 for job) or more an hour which you have to work how many hours to pay for ?

Or you and a friend or two spend a Saturday doing the job, have fun, learn and save money ;-)

I do agree that its very satisfying and can save you a lot of money by doing stuff yourself, and there are some good guides out there to help you!

However, something like suspension is one thing i'd like to have someone who knows slightly what to do!!! I had a go at changing the suspension on my MK5 with my brother, and although i did manage to partly do it, the part when the spring compressors slipped and sliced my thumb open was not a pleasant thing!

I'd say ask around, there's got to be a friend of a friend of a friend who's a mechanic who'll surely be able to do it for way less than you've been quoted!!!
