need some help with my 1.4 polo

the car seems to have a mind of its own . i could be driving down the duel carriage way or stopped in traffic but when the car wants to it just cuts out . i could be going 60mph and it would cut out, iam clutching correctly and everything just havent a clue wants wrong with it , its very annoying . can anyone give some advice because i say i could be dead soon because turning corners without power steering isnt nice haha
