how to find Gearbox code?

is there any way to find out the gearbox code?

basically i have a vw polo gearbox i got from a scrappy a while back and i forgot the gearbox code on it...so i just wanted to know if i took it from the car would there be a way to find out on the gearbox itself?

I'd imagine the code would be stamped somewhere on the box.

you can also find what gearbox should be inside your polo by looking for the code inside the service manual if thats of any help.

oi c...yea i know where the gearbox code is on the service manual and round that back by the boot...

hmmm i will check if its stamped somewhere on the gearbox ...
