just fitted in vw 1.4 6n gearbox 8v

i had a second hand gearbox fitted in today for a mk4 1.4 8 v...

the thing is though...its really hard to get into the first gear...and the 2nd gear is abit tough...but the rest of the gears are fine...

i dont know how long the gearbox i fitted has been sitting there from where i bought it from.

Also changing the gear is quite stiff like it takes alot of force in pushing and pulling the gearstick to move..

Can someone please help me on this...? thanks alot

Sounds like it might be your gear linkage alighnment?

it could be i guess...would that be the garages fault who fitted it in for me? or the gearbox it self...

also its a bit stiff to change gears...could that be adjusted?

but how about the gearbox oil? could this have an affect on this and how would you know that it needs to be topped up? thanks
