Paint advice & types

I ordered my compressor and other tools today to spray my newly ordered bumper, wing, wheels and grills

However I'm in a pickle as in the past I've only used spray cans and having trouble finding where to get the paint mixed, I tried a repair center I trust very well and they said they only supply water based paints. This is all new to me as I don't know what type of paint I need and whether water based paints would be fine. Can someone advise me on what I actually need in terms of paint and where the best places are to obtain it.

Also when using different paints how many layers will i need, drying time, whether to laq or polish as well as whether priming will be needed etc would all be useful in advance as well, many thanks in advance.

I'd go to the dealers for paint. Or a bodyshop specialists.

you will need to prime if its not already, use plastic primer on bumpers etc... if its primed i usualy rub it down and re prime it. you will know when its enough coats becase it will be the correct colour.

but usualy 2/3 will be enough depending on how you have thinned the paint.

I only use cellulose paint as it is simple and easy to use and drys fast in normal temps. Water based newer, its the law to use that now in paint shops which is why they NEED ovens to cook the car. you cant really do that at home or at least i dont think you can. Two pack .. never used it so i dont know but i dont think that needs heat to dry.

Many thanks, I got in contact with a friends relative who runs a body shop and he actually told me a local paint dealer to get the paint from, I will go there when I got money to get paint. Another thing I'd like to know is whether I should laq the plastic after the paint or not?

Also the wing is made from metal unlike the bumper, should the paint technique be different or the same?
