service insp??????
Re: service insp??????
its a pain in the ass m8 thats what it is. There is a way to reset it using ur speedo knob thingys i cant remember what it is, alternatively just disconnect ur battery and it will go away lol. Also its telling you to get a service so maybe ur car needs one but if it has had one then just use the disconnect battery method for resetting thatHardcore wrote:on the little dash display. iv got a message which says

depends where you take it. Obviously if you go to VW it will cost a lot but they will reset the insp errorHardcore wrote:just a service is that it? so im not low on oil or water or anything? i think its been serviced before but not for about 30k miles. how much can a service cost rufly?
Alternatively any garage will do it for around £70 i think but dont garentee that the insp will disappear.
Or find someone with VAG-Com to turn it off locally.
It doesn't mean something failed it just means your advised to service certain parts from oil to belts. Basically keeping you engine happy, smooth and so it can live longer
Also how many miles you done on it? As the services are different at different intervals in terms of millage. Such as at every 60k you will need a whole new belt kit, which I'd definetly recommend to get done if this is the case in terms of intervals. Usually its an advisory oil and filter change/inspection that VW do so no whoopie or worried there.

Fuel filter could need a change.
Sparks usually need a refreshing
Actual Air filter/polen filter
Wiper blades
Distributor cap & rotor arm
Usual junk
When getting timing belt kit try and get a water pump done, could save you alot of money and hassle in the long run as I was advised this as the water pump does not come in the standard kit so getting it is usually a good decision. My belts due, but its showing marks of wear on it and its done 77k haha
But if you can, see if you can find someone locally with VAG-COM or someone of here they should easily be able to remove the INSP light/message very easily (if not see if local garages will do it for a fee), there is a trick with pushing the buttons on the dash, I tried it and it didn't work, think the tricks for mk5's only.

Then it defo needs a service, which is the whole point of the indicator coming on. After you do the service, use the sequence to reset the indicator which will remind you of the next one. Do a search for the sequence, its been posted here before so you should find it easily.Hardcore wrote:i think its been serviced before but not for about 30k miles. how much can a service cost rufly?
yer yer. i know the sequence. last time it came on it said service oil. so i did an oil filter and change, n flushed the engine. all you gotta do is turn ignition off. hold the button to reset the miles for 5 seconds and turn it on again 3 times. my local garage told me that
geting rid of the warning light wasnt the question. what the INSP stood for was more to the point if you get me. normally it states wht needs to be serviced. i just wonderd wht the insp ment.
gona just go for all of the things that have been suggested tbh. n then go for a service in a garage n see what they say.
-cheers for all the advice people!
