Insurance with K and N 57i induction kit

Does the insurance have to know about one of these going in my car?

They will see it as an induction kit, but it arguable, depends on how its set up if it was changing the vw cold/hot feed to something new with a new oval filter in the box probably not, but being a K&N i suppose you would. Maybe someone else can shine some more light?

No. Its not a big enough increase to warrant telling the insurance - most air filters are just noise anyhow!

ahhh thts good news, cant wait to get it. I'm just after the sound benefit really, my mate has one on his 1.2 clio, sounds awesome. Thanks for replies

With Induction kits they do give a small increase in BHP and your adding something, which would void your insurance if they found out you've got one.

The next option would be replace the air filter as your only changing same for same and K&N rekon they give you a tiny increase but no noise i'm affraid.

Dont want my insurance going up so going for the Air Filter, induction kit added Â£300 on a Â£60 K&N induction kit.

Got to agree, insurance company will simply see it as a modification if you put a K&N 57i induction kit on, as you will be removing the factory fitted air-box & having a (possible) BHP increase.
You will regret it if you write your motor off & the assessor notes a mod & invalidates your insurance, plus you could then get caught for driving with no insurance!!!
