HELP!!! Problems!

hi, my car is a polo 1.4 16v 6n model. it wont start and ive been told its my starter motor not gd! also my car is not runnin well, when i boot it it smells off fuel and what sort off top end speed should the car do? Anyone know? please help cheers eddie

when u say it wont start do u mean it wont tick over? or literally when u turn the key absolutely nothing happens? n e thing light up on the dash?

u tried giving the battery a charge or a jump start from another car?

u said it wont start then u said it doesnt run well? so does that mean it dont start all the time?

sorry about that was in a rush. it has nothing there when u turn the key but bumps off everytime! runs worst when it is cold.......cheers ed

also all the lights work on dash, everything electrical fine

Sounds like your starter motor is stuck/seized, try giving it a knock with a nylon/wood mallet and see it works, but your prob best off replacing it either way,if the starter is stuck in it will over heat and poss cause a fire the smell of fuel is also worrying, check all your fuel lines for leaks, but as you say it's more noticeable when you put more load on the engine it could be a faulty choke or ignition as your getting unburnt fuel.
I would get both issues looked at as soon as you can, both are fire hazards
