Hi Eddi
what car. engine and how many miles?
is it using oil or water?
It does sound like worn piston rings or valve stem oil seals, i would prob go for worn valve stem seals, might be oil draining into the cylinders when engine's been left over night or for some time.
Two checks:
when you accelerate check for smoke (worn rings)
when you or decelerate (valve seals/ guides)
Get a compression check done.
