9n3 Lowering Needed
9n3 Lowering Needed
im looking to get some lowering springs, either the 35mm H+R L.springs or the Eibach 40mm L.springs?
Just wondering if you had any advice, which set i need to get as my car is the 1.4 100bhp sport model?
Is £100 fitting with tracking and everything pretty good?
Any advice is welcome.
Cheers

Thats just outside Cardiff where i live my dad knows the owner from the days they used to ralley etc!!
i was going to get Eibach, but know that H+R are just as good aswell and seen the results of kenny's gti and M@Turner and they cars look awesome!!
And i need it as seen outside my Nans house!!

i think i need to get the 831kg and above due to my front axle weight on a 1.4 16v 100bhp

I have the h&r's, they are the lowest. They aren't too hard although I'm used to hard cars and prefer the feel.
don't think it will be a piece of cake, you need a multi spline socket to remove the strut and the allen key hole on the top of the strut is a dodgy size
also to remove the drivers side one you have to drop the ball joint and disconnect the drive shaft (although I did it the dangerous way of putting the spring under full compression and then removing the strut, without disconnecting the drive shaft)

Argh, just been told they arn't in stock so will be delivered in 7-10 days rather that next day!! nevermind at least they are ordered and on the way!!
Gotta make my mind up on the colour to paint the callipers? any ideas?
Then going to put some rear mudflaps on, and maybe change the front grill to honeycomb gti style in time?/ or shall i keep the sport one?
Any ideas are more than welcome
got a few other mods maybe in the next few weeks when my mk1 goes in for a full respray!! hmm

I have the same colour car as you and I've painted the calipers myself.Creedy wrote: was thinkin maybe blue, but wud need the exact same colour paint as the car or it would look stupid?
Think the same colour would be great but I just went for a medium blue and am pleased with the results....
not the best pic, but just to give you an idea....
Somehow the colour difference is more obvious in the photo?!
