Quick Question RE: 6N2 Front Brake Discs - Vented?

Post by CTR »

Afternoon chaps,

I'm in need of some front discs and pads for our 1.4 Polo Match. I think the model code is 6N2 (its the last of the square headlight polo). I've tracked down a supplier for these but they need to know if the discs I need are vented or not.

As I can't get home to check this, can someone let me know the answer to this please?

Many thanks

Just to clarify, our Polo is a Y-reg 2001 5-door 1.4 Petrol. Cheers! :)

If your looking for standard replacement then he should know anyway. Anyway just look at your discs and if they have drilled holes or grooves then they're vented to allow more air. If they're totally flat, which I would guess they are then its plain ol discs!

NOZ, thanks mate. But I think what he meant by "vented" is whether they are twin discs with a gap in the middle or just 1 solid disc.

I need to put an order in before the end of play today so I can fit them over the weekend but I'm at work so I can't get home to check.

don't think i've ever seen a single disc without a gap in between although I know what your talking about. If that is what he meant then you should be able to see the gap just by looking at your ones.

Yeah, that'd be ideal but I don't have time to nip home and check it.

CTR, the original brochure for the Polo mk5 (6N2) states that all cars were equipped with ventilated front discs :)

Cheers

Hi Si_GTi, thanks a lot mate I just got home and found out as well! :D

They are indeed the double disc type where theres a gap in between. I hope they manage to send it out in time for the weekend as I won't have time to work on the car otherwise!

Yeah there Vented as said, and are 239mm

As already said two types of disc, Vented and not, Ie its like 2 discs stuck together with piecs in the middle hence there vented,

And one piece is what it says it is. Solid pice of metal!
