P Reg with Disc's on the rear? Hm. As for the steering, I would go back to the person to fitted the bottom arms. Sounds like the steering is out. Get your track rod ends adjusted, mine dose it. I've been lazy and not sorted it. As for the brakes it could be a number or things. Best of going back to the person who did the so called repairs.
Drums sound alot better
looking at the vehicle from the front, whith you steering wheel stright.. do both wheels look straight? or is one slightly offset?
Brakes, knocking noise.. erm .. is it when you press the brake and then drive? like the shoes are sticking? or when you have just taken your handbrake off?

i think it goes slightly 2 the left when i sit in it its when i apply the break when driving and now im obsessed wit it so when ive stopped i apply the break and can still hear it so thats when im moving n not so im stumped as 2 what it can be when i was in the garage they looked at the front breaks and said that it pads are ok as they fitted them almost a year 2 the day.
Dose it pull to the side under braking at all?
As for the steering problem im a safe bet on the track rod end. It would have been removed when doing the bottom arm.
A further inspection of the brakes, front and back are required really. Either do it yourself. Look for wear, excessive play, siezed parts Ect, or go to another garage and explain your situation. dose it "knock" when braking hard, or when you just touch the pedel? May not be even a brake faul, may be the force of the vehicle under brakeing and somthing else is knocking.
