ohhhff that's bad.

I would either DIY spray it so it's protected, then put the bumpstrips back on.

Or get a bodyshop to sort it out and have them fully removed

i advise removing the rest of the glue first then spraying over. Even if the spray job looks s**t its better then some big ass nasty white lines!

did you just yank the thing off then???

Ouch, pretty nasty, I agree, remove the rest of the glue and touch it up.

I basically tipped a kettle of almost boiling water over mine when I did them. Then used petrol and rags and a scraper thing to get it off.
I agree with above remove the rest of the glue and either temp fix it for now or go to a bodyshop. Luckly its only the door so its not two panels to be sprayed.

uch, man thts bad luck, ive not heard of this happening before... and if i was pulling it then realised one bit of paint came off i'd be more careful pulling the rest off... and this might sound stupid but are u sure its paint or it could be the back of the bump strip, just from the pics it looks like it could be... :) but yea try do it yourself :) have a go... im doing my bumper myself :) lol
Goodluck :)

I feel for u man. I did mine a couple of weeks back and my credit card scrapper took a little bit of paint of, not close to the amount you've lost tho :(

I just touched mine up. I'd suggest getting urs in to the bodyshop tho. A touch up on that scale will be noticable :(

Owch as Biddle said, that's the method I used aswell, since you've taken it off already. Go grab your self a set of 6n2 rub strips at least it'll look smooth and flowing unlike the 6n ones.

Thats a point get some colour coded mk5 strips but make sure you cover the patches with something before you put the strips on. Good idea mate :D

Hi Chris
Don't be too down about it, won't be long before you got it the way you want it, and it the great scheme of things £100 ain't that bad, had the same problem with the rear badge on mine this weekend even taking care it took some of the paint and the shadow even cutting it back still shows, so replacing the badge, it had been damaged anyway one of the reasons it came off, reds a bugger to work with.
Heard of BMW's that have been debadged at the factory that have shadowing..
